Mes titres favoris sont "Gunshot Lips", "Algorithm", "Butterfly suite", "22 Layers of sunlight'... Favorite track: gunshot lips.

Mike Ashton Well crafted and well played. Good production, what's not to like?

Alison Fleming This album makes me smile all the way through. Love the arrangement and how all elements - story, lyrics, music etc - juxtapose what is earthly ‘natural’ with unearthly ‘unnatural’ (and vice versa!) Terrifically accessible and infectious are the songs too (they re-run in your head)…and that they sit like in a string with both tender ethereal- interludes and powerful progressive rock, it’s an unendingly fresh experience, it’s timeless. Favorite track: god of denial - the code.

REVIEWS

“…between classic and contemporary, digital and analogue, musicality and ‘the grid’…the sun rises again on symphonic prog project – ESP 2.0.” PROG Issue 86

"This is an album that will reward your time with real richness. Listen to it in the summer sunlight and be caressed by the sound." - Fireworks Issue 83

“…expertly crafted with excellent writing and musicianship, impeccable production and once again, beautiful presentation.” Prog Blog

"...a fresh glow and extraordinary, innovative melody sense stand out strikingly, this work is pushing to the highest masterpiece". Yoshiyuki Ooseki - Monthly Prog Notes

“This is a very well-crafted set of songs, clearly put together with passion and care by the musicians involved and certainly recommended for all prog fans.“ Classic Rock Society

“This band creates the perfect soundscapes…another wonderful release from Tony Lowe and ESP. There’s not a track on 22 Layers Of Sunlight that did not sound perfect or had any missing notions.” Professor Mark – The Progressive Aspect

4/5**** "ESP 2.0 have done it again with another album full of intriguing and enjoyable music. ’22 Layers Of Sunlight’ will certainly propel them further into the upper echelons of progressive music." Jason Ritchie - Get Ready to Rock

"Having heard the whole album, I can only say, it's a cracker! I thought the first album was great, but this has surpassed that one, well done!" Campbell Stewart

“…it’s good to see Lowe and Coyle with their own agenda and what they do on their own terms…and on their own terms comes a grand concept…the album presents a lush listen…what stands out are the congenial and extended song arrangements…all controlled and contained in a warm and rich decoration.” POWERPLAY Issue 207

Coming after the successful debut of their first album ‘Invisible Din’, the 2016 release which earned over 14 top reviews by the music industry; this incarnation features Peter Coyle, formerly of The Lotus Eaters, joining forces with renowned composer/producer Tony Lowe to write these deeply evocative and stunningly original songs, merging passionate vocals and intricate soundscapes. Sometimes using complex rhythmic structures – supplied by ace session drummer Mark Brzezicki, overlaid with modern progressive rock elements and orchestral movements, the music creates an intense, dramatic but ultimately uplifting experience. 60+ minutes

1. god of denial / the code

memory the deepest part of me the bare anatomy the magic alchemy that never dies that’s crystalised
time just echoes the desires
loneliness another part of this the metamorphosis there’s no way out of this are you surprised that it really hurts
the universe was here first

the god of denial riding high he’s the king of the world
the atmosphere of fear
the god of denial riding high he’s the king of the world
the atmosphere of fear

anecdote the stories never told data overload the maelstrom is sold and paralysed
it’s modern life
my Facebook page isn’t mine
infinite the inner synthesis the never ending twists the paradox of throwing it away
in disarray
the tower of babel isn’t mine

the god of denial riding high he’s the king of the world the atmosphere of fear
the god of denial riding high he’s the king of the world the atmosphere of fear

Track Name: 22 layers of sunlight
3. 22 layers of sunlight – lyrics by Peter Coyle

the yellow bleached flowers
are everywhere
and i’m afraid of everything
all my life is wasted
at the edge of thoughts and feelings

22 layers of sunlight
and your brain’s linked up
to the world wide web
just let your higher consciousness unfold
and let the data flow

how would i survive on my own
without the connectome
i can’t resist the mass hypnosis
without anywhere to go

22 layers of sunlight
and your brain’s linked up
to the world wide web
just let your higher consciousness unfold
and let the data flow

22 layers of sunlight
(and your brain’s linked up?)
to the world wide web
just let your higher consciousness unfold
and let the data flow

22 layers of sunlight
and your brain’s linked up
to the world wide web
just let your higher consciousness unfold
and let the data flow

22 layers of sunlight
and your brain’s linked up
to the world wide web
just let your higher consciousness unfold
and let the data flow

let the data flow
let the data flow

5. smiling forever – lyrics by Peter Coyle

that’s us in california
the cortex slaves
are dangling for you
the dead forests
the broken soil
the twisted roots in the sky

emotionally blind
can’t
can’t find the rhythm

repeat above (I took out the duplicate phrase for spacing room on the booklet, will but repeat etc)

that’s us in california
full of smiles
as long as we can keep the money
for miles and miles
the dead forests of sadness
are hanging above us
as our witness

emotionally blind
can’t
can’t find the rhythm

repeat above

i’m living amongst them
i’m sharing my pictures
i’m living amongst them
i’m smiling
i’m smiling
i’m smiling forever
i’m living amongst them
i’m sharing my pictures
I’m smiling
i’m smiling forever

emotionally blind
can’t
can’t find the rhythm

emotionally blind
can’t
can’t find the rhythm

i’m living amongst them
i’m sharing my pictures
i’m living amongst them
i’m smiling
i’m smiling
i’m smiling forever

i’m living amongst them
i’m sharing my pictures
i’m smiling
i’m smiling
i’m smiling forever

i’m living amongst them
i’m sharing my pictures
i’m smiling
i’m smiling
i’m smiling forever
Track Name: butterfly suite
6. butterfly suite - lyrics by Peter Coyle

just a blur on the horizon
with all that has gone
everything that we loved
has been burnt
we came here
the light
long ago
in a search for another world

don’t let go
the stars are bleeding
in the painting of my grief
there is no way
there is no way
don’t let go
in finding peace
and find release
don’t let go
and find relief
we are lost in a stranger’s world

nothing
is in this machine
except the tag lines
coming down the pipelines
i can’t hide
i’m in pain
every single day
there must be a way out

butterflies have been weaponised
white noise keeps us hypnotised

we’re not giving up – the masterpiece of your mind
we’re not going down – falling down every time
we’re not giving up – the masterpiece of your mind
we’re not going down – falling down every time

still don’t know – we’re not giving up
still don’t know – we’re not going down
what to believe in
still don’t know
Track Name: sensual earth
7. sensual earth – lyrics by Peter Coyle

what would it be like?
the world’s in a dark space
delusions won’t die
the cortex slaves
mind control arranged
some way we’ll escape this
into the virtual world

sensual earth
inside your soul
kiss me
hold me

one last time
in our lives
kiss me
hold me

somehow we’ll find each other
i won’t give up
i’ll search through the networks
no doubt
we’ll be in a strange place
some way we’ll escape this
into the virtual world

sensual earth
inside your soul
kiss me
hold me

sunlight flows
inside the core
kiss me
hold me

spinning round and round and round
in the vortex of our souls

spinning round and round and round
in the vortex of our souls
Track Name: gunshot lips
8. gunshot lips – lyrics by Peter Coyle

dirty plastic noise
on your gunshot lips
staring at the rock face
of relentless risk

mining underneath the surface
my needs are far from perfect
you can see
all the pain
dripping out of me

pure pure
love love

dirty plastic noise
on your gunshot lips
anything but real life
on the cinema screen

give me entropy
make me feel the need

pure pure
love love

pure pure
love love

you’re shaking like a leaf -dirty plastic noise
in this complexity -on your gunshot lips
dirty plastic noise
pure pure
love love

dirty plastic noise
abstract bliss
dirty plastic noise
abstract bliss
on your gunshot lips
abstract bliss

noise noise noise
abstract bliss
dirty plastic noise
on your gunshot lips
dirty plastic noise
on your gunshot
on your gunshot lips
pure pure
love love
Track Name: the ballad of broken hearts
9. the ballad of broken hearts – lyrics by Peter Coyle

walking
walking past
kafka’s face on the wall

overhead
the vector’s hawks
see it all

you look up
as you shape shift
you’re leaving here

you prayed in tokyo
you forged papers in prague
it’s the ballad of broken hearts

satellites
are talking to the trees everyday
explain it
cutting through
we’ll find a way
to break all the rules
keeps raining

everyday
you look up as you shape shift
you’re leaving here

you prayed in tokyo
you forged papers in prague
it’s the ballad of broken hearts

the thought of losing you right now
i couldn’t take it
the thought of you not being near
would take away the colours

my words
my words are ghosts of hurt

is this what it feels like?
is this what it feels like?
drowning

is this what it feels like?
is this what it feels like?
every day – is this what it feels like?

is this all?
is this all i can hope for?
is this all i can hope for?
